With Facebook’s improve to Graph API 2.Zero and depreciation of Graph API 1.0 set for April 30, the social community introduced the release of a Device to allow Developers to preview how their Purposes will Operate after upgrading.
Facebook’s Dan Xu offered an outline of how Developers must proceed leading up to April 30 in a Post on the social community’s developer Blog:
At F8 2014, we announced v2.0 of the Graph API, and consequently, we can be deprecating v1.0 on April 30, 2015.
When You put together to improve, your first step is to peer how your app behaves when it’s updated to v2.x. For some Developers, this is as simple as a code exchange to ensure that their API requests declare v2.Zero or better. But we’ve heard remarks that it’d be valuable to check how an app behaves in v2.x with out making any code changes for your side.
To make this easier, we’ve added The Flexibility to override the utilized API model for Check Customers of your app. This Allows You To log in as a Take A Look At consumer and see exactly how your app will behave Whenever You’ve migrated to v2.x.
To setup a version override for a Check user, seek advice from the Check Customers tab within the roles part of your app’s dashboard and select “Override the API version in Graph API requests for this Check consumer (pictured above).”
Subsequent, make a selection the version that you wish to have applied to all API requests from this Check consumer:
Once You permit this environment, when you make requests with this person’s get entry to token, they’ll behave as for those who’re calling the model you chose.
One additional thing to note is that this override keep watch over only works for requests made using this specific user’s get entry to token. Requests made with other Users’ tokens, or made along with your app token, will behave as normal. If You Wish To Test how your app behaves in its entirety when upgraded to v2.x, you should update your code to name v2.x across all of your API requests.
A Snappy reminder that on April 30, 2015, all API calls that don’t specify model v2.Zero or higher will automatically behave like v2.0 calls. Please update your code and release an upgraded version sooner than April 30to steer clear of individuals encountering broken experiences when they use your app.
The Ability to override the version for Check Customers should make it even easier so that you can improve your apps to Graph API v2.x.
For more knowledge on how one can upgrade to v2.x, please see the upgrade information.
