George Lucas clarifies 'white slavers' comment: 'Disney is doing an incredible job'

LA — George Lucas has apologized for an “inappropriate analogy” he made on the Charlie Rose Show, where the Superstar Wars creator offhandedly recommended that he had bought the franchise to “white slavers.”

The interview, taped in November and aired on Christmas, incorporates a passage where Lucas wears his emotions on his sleeve about letting go of the Big Name Wars franchise, which he offered to Disney for $Four billion. He admits that he’s all the time been protective of the characters, which he referred to as his “kids.”

“I sold them to the white slavers who takes these items and… ” Lucas mentioned, sooner than trailing off and laughing. It wasn’t completely clear what Lucas meant, and Rose didn’t ask him to extend on that concept.

Lucas, who does not have a personal publicist, issued a statement clarifying his feedback on Thursday, which used to be got By Using Mashable:

I need to make clear my interview on the Charlie Rose Convey. It was for the Kennedy Center Honors and performed previous to the most efficient of the film. I misspoke and used an extraordinarily inappropriate analogy and for that I make an apology.

I’ve been working with Disney for 40 years and selected them because the custodians of Superstar Wars as a result of my nice respect for the corporate and Bob Iger’s leadership. Disney is doing an improbable job of taking good care of and increasing the franchise. I hardly ever exit with statements to clarify my emotions but I Feel you will need to make it clear that i’m delighted that Disney has the franchise and is shifting it in such thrilling instructions in movie, tv and the parks. Most of all I Am blown away with the file breaking blockbuster success of the brand new film and am very pleased with J.J. [Abrams] and Kathy [Kennedy].
